Pilates
I like to think of pilates as trying to stay stable in the shoulders, ribs, core and pelvis while the arms and legs are moving or the spine is flexing, extending, rotating or side-bending. It’s harder than it looks and it beautifully prepares you for an active life out in the world.
At The Aware Lab, every private lesson will involve some combination of pilates on the V2Max Rehab Reformer, The Cadillac (also called a Trapeze Table), The Stability Chair, The Fuse Ladder and the mat. The equipment is designed to support you in exercises so that you can move without compensation. The mat work is a little harder…on the mat, it is all you! But don’t worry, every move can be modified to match your unique level of mobility. (Did I say that every move can be modified based on your unique mobility? Everyone, no matter your age, disability, illness or athletic ability, can benefit from a regular pilates practice.)
